It’s one of many questions patients are asked as part of an annual questionnaire.
More than 26,000 surveys were distributed across Bolton’s 49 GP surgeries, with just under 5,400 fully completed surveys returned. Nationwide, about 2.56 million were sent, and fewer than 700,000 completed and returned.
In addition to asking about GP receptionists, patients were also asked whether they thought their practice was good, whether they saw a GP on the same day as their appointment booking, and whether they could see their GP in person.

Of Bolton’s 49 GPs, 17 said more than 90 per cent of respondents said their reception and administration teams were helpful, while only 14 came in at less than 80 per cent.
On average, 83 per cent of patients found their GP surgery receptionists helpful.
Last year, no surgery had a 90 percent rating, with the top surgery having 88 percent of respondents rating its reception team as helpful.
In first place was Dr Jaime and Jesusdas of Halliwell Surgery, with 99.4 per cent of patients saying the reception team was helpful. A close second was Dr. Rizwan and Dr. Awan on Halliwell surgery at 96.9 percent.

On the other hand, Bolton Medical Center was the practice ranked as the most unhelpful reception and administration team by far – 45.1 per cent of respondents said the team was not helpful overall.
In second place was Unsworth Group Practice, with 36.7 percent of respondents saying they had a reception group that did not help their practice.
